If you give away fitness equipment are you liable for someone injuring themselves on it?

Hi all, giving away a load of stuff for free via our local gumtree, ahead of a house move. We have a pull up bar which is hardly used (it defeated us pretty quickly!) and in good condition. No assembly instructions but they can easily be found on the internet. My question is, if we give this away to someone and they then injure themselves using it, can we be held liable? What if we put something to the effect that it’s at their own risk in the ad? Is there a rule about this? Grateful for any advice!

How would you be responsible, unless the equipment is not complete / in a dangerous condition so that it is likely to cause injury other than through incorrect (or even correct) use?

If you gave someone a car and they injured themselves through using the car, would you be responsible for their bad driving?  I think not.  However, if you gave the car away knowing it had no brakes, then you might be held liable.
