Creditors keep calling at work!!

When you get a call, ask if it is being recorded and then tell them that you believe you are being harassed which is against the banking code and Office of Fair Trading guidelines on debt collection/management.
Get the callers name and log the time of call. This will give you some extra info to add to the template letter above.

That's absolutely disgraceful that they're calling you at work, I'm horrified :eek:
I would just say, politely but firmly, "please call me at home later to discuss this, I am AT WORK now and can't discuss it at the moment" and then hang up. Then get those letters in the post asap.You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

You can also ask that they only contact you in writing.
I used to say that I would not discuss any details over the phone.

Dear Dancingdebs,
My bankruptcy hearing was on 14/11/07 and my telephone interview was on 26/11/07. It's all over now and the sense of relief is unbelievably wonderful! A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I am starting a new life. If you go down this route you will find that it's not nearly as bad as people would have you believe and the good feeling at the end of it all is overwhelming!
1) The template letter re-printed earlier in this thread is a very good method of getting your creditors to back off. It worked for me with Sainsburys Bank and MBNA although they will only give you a finite period of time before they start calling again.
2) If the calls become incessant and start to wear you down, contact your local Trading Standards Office. They will give you call-log forms on which to record the telephone calls you get from creditors and that will help them decide whether or not an offence of harassment has been committed.
3) Be sure to say very clearly, when creditors 'phone you at work, that you will not accept calls in your workplace and that they must cease forthwith. Follow the 'phone call up with a letter to the same effect.
4) You MUST take advice from CCCS or CAB or similar. After your meeting/interview with one of these bodies I found that it was quite useful to tell creditors that I was experiencing financial difficulties and that the matter was being dealt with by.........
5) To stop unwanted 'phone calls at home I subscribed to the BT "Choose To Refuse" service. With this service you can bar incoming calls from up to 10 numbers of your choice.
I hope my tips have been of some use to you. They worked for me!0
