What date does a police caution start from?

I’m due to start a new job soon. They are completing a DBS check: I have a couple of police cautions from when I was younger. I know they stay on your dbs record for 6 years. Is that from the date the caution was issued or from the date of the offence. (Took months for them to actually have time to get me back in to answer bail)
thanks in advance

What level of DBS check is it?
Cautions are spent immediately, or after 3 months for conditional cautions, and it is only unspent items that appear on a basic DBS check.
If it is a higher level DBS check then it is 6 years from the date the caution was given assuming you were an adult at the time.
