Uber - have taken a large number of payments which cannot be accounted for and [....]

which they say they cannot locate. They say I should contact my bank, which I will do so, but this is unacceptable.
Do you know which financial or other authority I should report this to? 
I only discovered these because I spent an hour going through all my Uber charges to double check. I'm sure this is happening with many other people too.

    If Uber can't locate them, doesn't that suggest that these might be some other unrelated payments masquerading as being from Uber?

    Contact your bank to cancel your card if there is unauthorised use.
  • Definitely contact the bank, contact the Action Fraud team, and examine the journeys taken - have you installed Uber on any of your phones ? It may lead to where the fraudster lives...
