Hi hope you can help was made redundant a few weeks back and now been given a second interview for a sales engineer role.
I have to do a presentation on an overview of myself, what I can bring to the role and then the BIG question which I think is tough..
how would you maximise sales and market potential in UK in the Covid world? It’s selling tools that shape and cut metal ..
any help or guidance appreciated

How much do you know about this industry? Who are the typical buyers of their products? What drives their customers to make new purchases? Are these consumables so everyone thats still trading will be using theirs up or is this more for new product development etc?
Once you've considered the above and other background questions you can then think of who fits the profile... whos demand has fallen off a cliff so not worth the time dealing with and who potentially will have an uplift in demand due to changes in priorities etc?
We are 6 months into this fun now, a review of the sales results and trend lines should also potentially be an indication and add to the thinking.
Don't have a clue on the industry so cannot help further but in theory thats what my initial thoughts would be.0 -
yes, tough one. here are some points i was thinking of.
1. your company can offer assurance of flexibility to deal with the changing environment. so if there is a local lockdown, then you would change the delivery of the product but you would try to find ways to minimise the delay.
on the otherhand, if the client wants to delay delivery, then your company would be able to work with them on the delay.
it therefore very much depends on what your company can do. you can only sell what your company offers, and you should make this clear in your presentation as there is no point in selling what you can not deliver as that would only damage the reputation of the company, which the company may have taken a long time to build.
2. spell out to clients the quality of service, the dependency of the company even in tough and uncertain times, the competitive pricing in an uncertain world.
BUT seriously, brush up on presentation techniques. As a sales role, they will judge you on your delivery so it is important to practice on the delivery. make sure you come across as confident and honest as that is what your customers are going to see when you do get the job and start selling to them.0 -
Or just offer them all world cup tickets as the Sales Director of the last IT company did that pitched to meAskAsk said:make sure you come across as confident and honest as that is what your customers are going to see when you do get the job and start selling to them.
