Hi everyone, so I recently done my bankruptcy and had interview with OR over phone. I was told that I would be discharged after 12 months. I wasn’t asked for bank statements etc and my bank account is still open. I opened a basic account elsewhere as I assumed that mine would be closed. Is this normal? It seems too straightforward? Will they not be in touch again or do you simply get discharged after the year?
Some companies have been closing accounts already. Do they all do this?

They very likely won’t be in touch again, but without knowing the exact circumstances that led to your bankruptcy it’s impossible to say for sure. They have a year to investigate your pre bankruptcy conduct.1

If its simply a case of years of over spending, accumalation of debt, and general bad decision making, then its pretty much a straightforward open and shut, run of the mill bankrupcy. If on the otherhand you were engaged in dodgy deals that led to your downfall, (not saying you have you understand) then that would require further investigation. Most personal bankrupcies these days are smooth as silk, they no longer drag you through the streets tied to oxon and throw rotten cabbages at you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Yea mine was straight forward, no statements required and it's been 8 months so far and no further contact from the OR so I assume they wont for the last 4 months now so easy I wish I had done it years ago.0

This is exactly what happened with me. I didn’t hear from them again after, my original bank account remained open and I was discharged 12 months later.0
