So you get the free prescription and then take it somewhere else? Otherwise your eye test will just be added to the price of the glasses.

The glasses are the bit the opticians make the money on, not the eye test, which is why some places knock the cost of the eye test off the glasses you buy from them which makes it "free".

Personally (having suggested one place with free tests which the OP rejected as an option) I think the OP should just pay for the eye test, and then if they need glasses/contacts, save the serious money on that bit by using one of the cheap internet providers.

If the test shows the OP doesn't need glasses/contacts then the cost is simply peace of mind that their eyes are healthy.

Or they could be really money saving, and not get a test at all - (and I'm sorry if this is facetious) because not being able to see properly is definitely worth the £25  saving.

Can I ask why you want a "non-NHS" eye test?

And maybe look at other branches of Specsavers, as they are franchised. My local branch was doing eye tests back in August when I got mine done.

I think it is more a point of not wanting to pay for a test and doesn't qualify for a free NHS one.

Non of them seem to offer a free non-NHS eye test anymore

Well I had an email yesterday reminding me to book my NHS sight test, so I guess it must be location based.

    The OP bumped it themselves.

Would have been quicker to save up for an eye test, to be honest.
