DBS check delay!

Hi all,
After losing my job at the very beginning of this covid mess I've finally been offered a post at a school. Trouble is, I had my intro to the school weeks ago & now waiting for Stage 4 of the DBS to clear.
I called my local constabulary to see where it is but the operator said they can't check it but to call another company tomorrow.
Other forums have stated that people have called their local police to chase it & it's been done in two days. Is this right?

The process will take as long as it takes to be honest. They can only work within set guidelines and the resources they have.0
