Do you have either Ocular Migraine or Classic Migraine with visual aura, and if so, what has the DVLA had to say about it?

The driver would be responsible for insuring s/he is fit to drive. Having never suffered a migraine I don't know how serious it's affects, however would you drive if suffering from a Migraine? YES/NO if not why not?0

I suffer with classic Migraines and never drive when i have one. I couldnt even if i wanted to as I normally go blind in one eye and one side of my body is limp.
However, I did ask once whether i would be insured to drive before it got too bad and they couldnt answer, i was just advised not to drive when my vision was impaired.Life is not about how many breaths you take.... Its about how many moments take your breath away

Do I take it that you haven't rung the DVLA to ask them then?0 -

I know nothing about Migraine and the DVLA, but it is now several weeks since I told them I have a posterior fossa meningioma with no cerebral deficit (that last bit is the good news!) and I have heard nothing since!
I would have expected at least an acknowledgement. As it is I cannot prove I have told them, should that ever be necessary.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I am sure the DVLA (Medical Division) will reply to you, as they have done to me in a similar situation, that if your Doctor will write them a letter saying you are fit to drive, they will then consider your case.Born to shop;)0 -
On the form I sent them I already told them that my consultant said I was OK to drive. And gave them his name, address, etc: he told me what I needed to say.
Maybe they are checking with him before contacting me. Who knows? You'd have thought they'd have an acknowledgement postcard system in place really.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
This is an "authority" you are dealing with here.......they need LOTS and LOTS of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

The doctor who diagnosed migraine a year ago didn't say anything about being unfit to drive, but I rang my GP last month because DVLA forms ask about vision. The message left with the receptionist was "ask the DVLA". So I rang them expecting some advice, and the telephonist said "what's an ocular migraine?". He then sent me a letter telling me to return my licence in the envelope provided, and that it's now illegal for me to drive. I rang the doctor back and he said "it's not my job to give medical opinions". I'm now waiting to see whether they give me my licence back or prosecute for not telling them a year ago.
In the mean time the doctor has now given me a letter saying that I can drive pending a DVLA medical enquiry.
The DVLA say I can drive if I have my doctors permission.
The Police say that I can't.
The DVLA say that I can.
The Police say that I can't.
The DVLA say that I can.
I say put it in writing then.
The DVLA say that they won't................
I've now been without the car for 5 weeks.0
