Can some one tell me how and where a refund shows up from Waitrose.....had several items that were by use date and I emailed and was given refund....saying would go into account....as have only use to Sainsbury and they give a voucher code on your online shopping account you then just use the voucher and knock it if next shopping bill.  But what to the others do....does it go back into bank account as credit or show up as vouchers if so where.

Many thanks

Waitrose will refund it back to however you paid it, eg credit card. Only needed a refund once, no issue. Credit card refunds can take a couple of days.

I've had small refunds from ASDA, Iceland, and Morrisons and they all refunded back via method used to pay. For me, that was Iceland or debit card.

One other thing, you said you had several items on use-by date.
Waitrose's policy seems to be if that happens they supply the items for free rather than not delivering the item. I have had 2 such incidents, the items were perfect quality however was on-date. I suggest you query with their customer services why you didn't get the items free. Waitrose are a quality reputable business so will be helpful.

Thanks for advising me of this.....I did mention that had I been in store the items would have been reduced.
All the items were charged for....however were refunded when raised the issue.  The annoying point was the suggestion that the items were by use by date because of supply problems with the current circumstances.  Naturally I would have accepted this if I believed they had a valid point, but this was not so as  several items were double orders (me and parent I shop for) so 2 packs bacon for example one dated next day other pack 4 days off....and this was the general way with the order.   I have been asked to view my next orders use dates, plus place requests by items I would like good use by dates.

Good, pleased you got a refund on those items.
The supply problems they said aren't relevant, after all once food gets past its BBE date they can't legally sell it anyway. That is why they give the items for free if they are on-date on your online delivery day so as not to disappoint.
I get a Waitrose delivery each week, dates are usually pretty good, including items received last week.

Items past the best before end (BBE) can be legally sold. Items past the use by can't.

Most supermarkets choose not to sell to customers past the best before (some have staff sales) but may online discounters and outlet stores  offer products past the best before.
  • Asda put back on payment card very quickly & you can use their app to actually ask for a refund on goods if you find them wanting. Tesco put back on card but for them I have only rung up. Sainsbury's is either ring up or I use Facebook Messenger which is a bit Q&A heavy but if you hang in there you will get a human reply. Best thing is for that is you can upload pictures of bad goods so the staff answering the social media can actually see the problem. For example rotten pears in a bag. However, their refund is usually an e-voucher to use another time.

Thank you....in the end it all was sorted quickly refunds etc, and my last order had no charge for next day items that were sent.
But sadly Waitrose seems to have got harder to get slots from, no longer can I look at 8 am and find anything.  Click and collect would be 40 mil round trip....so am using Tesco or Sainsbury and find them fine.   Used to meet up with mate for coffee and shop in Waitrose but due to health issues we have got used to long weekly phone call.....much cheaper :)
