Bank financial products are generally poor quality and/or expensive.   Halifax do buck the trend on this front but when it comes to other things you shouldn't be reliant on them so much (especially with insurances)

What do you focus on in your SIPP or anything to look out for investment wise?
It would depend on what your investment strategy is and your own investment views.
You should decide your strategy and process before you go picking funds.

Probably some more  background reading is needed.
This is a good site https://monevator.com/category/investing/passive-investing-investing/
I am not sure about the Halifax SIPP website but for sure some of the other SIPP/pension providers have good info/guidance  about investing strategies , although you have to ignore the promotion of their own ( expensive) one stop solutions.
Also this book is often recommended.https://www.amazon.co.uk/DIY-Simple-Investing-Guide-Effective-ebook/dp/B00YPF6RCQ
From a personal point of view , you have to think about what you are trying to achieve ; Is high growth or capital preservation your priority for example . Are you a risk taker or a bit cautious etc

You need to look at your investments top down.  Literally the last thing you should do is to choose your funds.

The primary drivers are timescale and risk.  If you are looking at retiring in 40 years time what happens in the meantime doesnt matter much.  Covid and a few other pandemics may come and go, the UK may collapse or become a brilliant success several times, China may eclipse the USA or may not, who knows.  Under such circumstances I suggest you invest mainly or entirely in global equity (share) funds. Make sure that you are covering all countries, sectors, company sizes etc.  You are simply betting that the world economy as a whole generally increases over a long timescale.  If it doesnt perhaps your and everyone elses situation will mean that your pension is not at the top of your priority list.

However high equity means higher volatility.  In the long run it doesnt matter and even benefits you since when prices are low you get more for your contributions.  In the short/medium term however a large crash may upset you and panic you into selling everything at a low price which would be a serious mistake.  If you think this is a possibility you may wish to put a % of your SIPP into safe, low return, investments.

All this is predicated on a long time scale.  If you are retiring in 5 years time then choosing investments becomes more difficult and depends very much on your other sources of income and exactly where your SIPP fits in.
