I wanna laptop or desktop pc for my 11 year old (and am confused)

Help - its Christmas day 3 weeks today and I still have to find either a laptop or desktop pc for my 11 year old son - I've been to Currys, Comet and PC world and feel so confused. My budget is £300 - £350 really and it can be either a laptop or desktop - I'm told to get a min. 1024 memory or Vista will run slow and also get something better than an intel celeron as that will struggle to run more than one thing at a time - ie. if playing music while surfing the net it will run slow. Is that right ? He wants it to surf the web, play on-line game (Runescape), type up his homework and also to play cd's and dvd's and copy them too.

Have seen this laptop in Comet :

not sure if its going to be too slow (celeron) - any other suggestions of decent comps that are out there please. Any suggestions appreciated.

  • Hello,

I've just received an email with this offer in it:-

Seems like a good deal to me at £299 - I have had an acer laptop for the last 2 1/2 years and am very happy with it.
Hope this helps and good luck in your search!
