Can someone help? I am getting a lump sum payment from my ex-husband, for a clean break payment from my divorce, will I have to pay capital gains tax on it? And is there anything else I would have to pay on it? Thanks

I cannot imagine where Capital Gains tax comes into play in a divorce lump sum settlement for the recipient. No.Janeyallrim said:Can someone help? Now if the person making the payment had to sell assets which became liable to Capital Gains tax, shares, property etc, that is a different matter for that person.1
