O/S Daily Thursday 1 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still quite dark, but dry underfoot, air is cool.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.,
Dinner last night was breaded/roasted chicken portions with pasta in a creamy mushroom sauce. Tonight will be pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy.
I'm on days' off so today I want to get some chores done and need to do some cleaning - we'll see how we go - would like to get it all done today so tomorrow can be a more chilled day as I'm working Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, happy cleaning!
Yesterday's rain carried on overnight but looks like it could be a dry day today, not too sure though so the washing is on the pulley, I can finish it off in the TD later if I need to.
I had a great swim last night, still not going in the mornings as the area that pool is in has the highest cases of Covid of the whole of Scotland at the moment and as I work on the edge of that area I'm not risking it yet. I think I'll leave it to see how things are after half term.
monna - I loved your quote yesterday.
DDs partner starts his new job today, hope all goes well for him. He's a hard worker, apart from with DIY but DD and I are teaching him! It has been lovely for them to all be together for the last 6 months, DD and little Sophie will miss him.
Right, off to the shower. Have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.Dark and raining here, but we're still going away till Tuesday. The forecast is not good, doesnt matter though.Yesterday I did all my ironing, I'm hoping for a medal from the Queen, I bet she doesn't let her ironing build up, and we went for our flu jabs.I just spent the rest of the time tidying, and rearranging some drawers, and preparing for going away of course. Not that we need much for the few days we'll be away. DH took our clothes over to the van on Monday, so it's just the cool bag to fill and a quick tidy round.Hope everyone has a good Thursday anyway, and I'll be reading along. Take care folks.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. It was a darker start than ever this morning but we have quite a pleasant day ahead according to forecast/ Sunny spells and no rain!
I had a lovely meal out with DD yesterday and she gave me a gorgeous rose bouquet before we set off for the carvery. All change now at the carvery, abiding by the new rule of table service only. You get a tick sheet of everything on offer, including various gravies and sauces, and it's brought to you. OMG the plateful was enormous! I know I am a glutton but I was beaten by all that. And I needed to leave room for a dish of their gorgeous treacle sponge and custard!
Strictly in accordance with the bubble rule, DD and the 2 youngest DGDs are coming after school and staying for tea. I dared to suggest making something different but they were having none of it! So Bolognese Bake it is! I shall get the sauce on shortly. Then I will make a head start on the Friday Tidy and clean the kitchen and bathroom. It will ease the burden for tomorrow.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Hope the invalids are now recovering. Take care one and all and stay sane and safe. Happy Holiday to SR. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Rain more or less all day yesterday and now it is drizzly. Not so wet that you don't want to even budge outside but too damp to really enjoy it. So I'll do indoor stuff.
Mr M*rrisons delivered our shopping, one item missing and no individual lemons so I've got a bagful. Unfortunately OH ordered washing up liquid which we didn't need and both bottles leaked so he's had to clean it off things. I think he couldn't tell exactly what we have in the under the sink cupboard so I will tidy it up. I haven't done it because I can get down to it but then can't get up. Well obviously I can, otherwise I'd be living on the floor but it is difficult.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all well my get up and go has truly gone i can't seem to motivate myself to do anything and just feel exhausted i don't think it helps having to get up at 4am to make sure DS gets up for work still i am off to mums with DH later to try and clean her front block paving we did it with the pressure washer during lockdown but couldn't get the sand we now have the sand but lots of weeds and DD2 is leaving from mums to go to the reg office so weed pulling and scraping today other than that nothing much is happening in my little world
TA glad you had a nice meal out x
Right better drink my tea before it gets cold have a good day one and all xxSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here for now but more rain due tonight and then over the weekend, its dd'd pup first birthday today so we will take them for a nice walk and then dd wants to take her to a pet shop so that she can choose her own toyso thats what we will do !!
Got my morrisons delivery yesterday this is the 3rd one and each time its been over an hour late, yesterday there was things missing and substituted without telling me, and a leg of lamb with the packaging ripped open to the elements and blood and juice all ovr other itemsnot brilliant, I have emailed so hopefully they will sort it out, I have a delivery booked for next week so will see how that is !!
I think its filled pasta for dinner with garlic bread and salad.
SR Enjoy your break xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all, the sun is out as opposed to our weather forecast which was for grey and showers. I wish I'd done some washing now.I'm not doing much today except waiting for a Morries delivery. It's all for Dad so it will be washed/cleaned etc and we'll take it up, there is quite a bit of frozen in there ( hopefully ) and even with my freezer 3/4 full there's too much too go in mine. We'll then take the car for a run, can't go too far though as we've been naughty and put in this lockdown and our borough isn't that bigI shall have to clean down the kitchen ready for the cleaning of the shopping and I suppose I'd better get dressed, don't want to give the Morries driver a fright !!Take care all, stay safe and enjoy your day.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Good morning folks. The sun is shining again though the forecast for the weekend is horrendous so I've been out making the most of it. I did a little shopping and then bought a couple of luscious pastries. I give one to the cleaner each time as she's really good. She only 'does' for DM as her husband is the window cleaner.I feel more like myself now that the ABs are clearing my system, can't say I'm perky yet though certainly less yeugh. The Scottish government are contemplating a 'circuit breaker' short sharp lockdown... let's hope that it doesn't come to that.Again, everyone is putting me to shame with such activity. As this isn't my home I can't do anything much to change the things which need updating. DM already feels as if she's losing control of her home though that is the reality of it. There are some bags of unwanted academic books which I'll gradually take to Oxfam bookshop.I hope that everyone has a good day - happy Thursday to all.10

Afternoon all,
Had a lovely visit this morning from my sister in law, she brought me flowers, scones and a book. She and my brother have been separated for years but we have always been good friends and remain so.
4c here this morning but sunny I was glad that C accepted my offer of some cooking apples, many people have a glut of apples this year and it is difficult to offload surplus.
Camelot.....our swimming pool has been closed for most of the last six months, of course I can't swim at present but would like the option,
I cannot see an end to this virus, stay safe everybody, as much as you can
