Forced to work when I should be on holiday

I understand your viewpoint, and you are entitled  to your opinion but there is a principle involved,  if I was off sick with doctors certification I wouldn't be expected to work the hours back. 

Which 'principle' would that be?

If it’s been the case for years that you work term time plus two weeks in summer then you could argue that it’s your contract through custom and practice.  I do think it’s a question for the union though. I understand why you’re questioning it and it’s a long haul from mid August to Christmas with no option to have a break.  I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect you to make up furlough time.

After various phone calls, emails, chats in person with union rep. H.R. & H. Teacher, I have accepted that I will work 1 week during the school October 2 week break,  the offer today from H.R. was to carry a week over to 2021, our leave year is January to December,  so if I agreed to that (which I haven't) would mean in 2021 I would work term time plus 3 weeks.  I have indicated that at the moment I can't accept that and I have asked for and been given contact details of the head of H.R. and head of our education services department.  If that fails to resolve this situation I have stated I will go to acas as I feel so strongly about it.
