MSE Poll: When did you last switch your bank account?
Seeing this poll, has now made me consider changing.
I'm with Halifiax reward and Halifax ultimate reward - seems a lot has changed since first setup - instead of reward which used to be, I'm now paying to keep the account! The reward is £3 a per month due to not putting in £1500 a month. The ultimate one £17 a month for well, breakdown cover really. - Holiday insurance not needed, lucky to go aboard every 3 years. - Mobile insurance, cheaper to replace the handset second hand. - Home emgenecy, after reading, doesn't seem to cover sod all. - Breakdown cover, only one I want and I can get it for as little as £30 a year.
Edit: Looks a basic account it is for me, sadly no switch bonus (according to this site). The only one looked ok was Santander cashback for direct debit bills, however I pay £2 a month, but as my bills are low, I would be paying for the account.
I've switched several times in recent years. I've found it helpful/necessary to keep a (paper) note of DDs and Standing orders so that linked savings accounts can be maintained or closed as desired.
I used to change very regularly when cash for switching offers were a thing! There was a time when you didn't even need to have direct debits to move; I would just have a disposable current account that I'd sacrifice while contnuing to use my rubbish Barclays account that I've had for 20 years. No helping some people I know...
