Money Moral Dilemma: Should I keep my overpaid final salary?

As Katrina helpfully posted the link i wont need to do that. Funny isnt it how wrong you can be?keithyno.1 said:Comms69 said:It's literally a criminal offence to keep it, what's moral about this?!Sorry, but that’s preposterous! Are you seriously suggesting that if the person asking the question took no further action and simply waited to see what happens next, they’d eventually receive a visit from the Serious Fraud Office and get arrested? There’s no criminal offence occurred whatsoever. A company has made an overpayment to an individual, that’s all - the individual’s hardly hacked into their bank account and taken the money by stealth, or set out to defraud the company out of it. It’s a debt, nothing more, so would be classed as purely a civil matter in law. If the individual refused to pay it back then the company would have to resort to action in the civil courts, as they would with any unpaid debt.
I will however point out that it's unlikely to (initially) lead to arrest, as I cant see the necessity under Code G; except for the purposes of an interview, which will be caution + 3 (voluntary)1 -
I had this happen a couple of years ago. A few days after final payment I had an email from them aknowledging the overpayment and stating they weren't asking for it back.
Maybe they aren't botheredWith love, POSR
