No doubt there is plenty of info on the Gambling Commission website (if it's for gain then offering a free entry route is generally a requirement to avoid the need for some of the regulations because that can mean it doesn't get counted as a lottery - that's why ITV etc offer free postal entry)

from one of the sites that offer watches cash etc

That is not true. With companies like Raffall, you can hold raffles for personal gain

People have done this and a family recently raffled their home and car so they could raise funds to emigrate to Australia. No need to go on any gambling website. It's a fact. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. A family recently raffled their home and car (won by another family of 5) because they were going to Australia. They raffled it for personal gain. I'm not sure if they also donated to any charity but they have now left for Oz so it worked for them.
Ignore the naysayers and do it! Good luck. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. People have done this and a family recently raffled their home and car so they could raise funds to emigrate to Australia. No need to go on any gambling website. It's a fact.- Although the term ‘raffle’ is often referred to on our website, this is for marketing and SEO purposes only and due to the fact that each entrant is required to answer a question or puzzle upon entering, all competitions hosted on our platform are therefore legally considered ‘Prize Competitions’ and not raffles;"

How are you going to take all these thousands of small payments? The obvious two methods would more than likely be a bank transfer or Paypal payments. (Unless your going to sell in person?)I saw a lot of people do these sorts of raffles on Facebook a few years back with stories to follow regarding their bank /PayPal accounts been suspended or closed because of thousands of transactions that were deemed suspicious and looked like unusual activity.1

If you need to collect entrants names, addresses and contact details you need to be aware of GDPR and may have to register under the Data Protection Act.1
