How do I save a post on Instagram?

As the title asks how? I'm slightly confused still regarding saving on Instagram. I've previously saved using the bookmark icon (image bottom right of a photo) but I think this only saves it for me and can't be seen by the original poster.
I've also screenshot the post with #repost then tagged the prize provider. Or is there an other way that is simpler?
