Sending bank statements safe? Mortgage app

Hello
Ftb here, we've just put in an offer (pending), i just wanted some advice should our offer get accepted and need to start the mortgage application.
We have broker who did not want to issue AIP as we have a largish deposit around 25-30% on our budget house and the mortgage we're looking to get will be around 3-3.3 times our combined salary, so they do not currently have things like bank statements/ proof of deposit.
During the mortgage application stage, how have people been sending things like bank statements to solicitors and mortgage brokers? Via email? I'm a really cautious person and just wanted to get others experience on providing such sensitive information via email or handed face to face?
Thank you

Sending by plain email is pretty normal, I expect you can find more secure methods if you want (eg putting them in a password-secured PDF). Obviously it's also standard for them to be sent by normal post (like the banks do!).1
