Advice

I’ve been off work for 14 months due to an accident at work, the employer paid me full pay for 8 months whilst being off with the injury then put me on ssp just after Covid-19 struck, I handed in my notice last week because I had no alternative but to get a lighter duty job due to my back injury, I know I’m owed a week in hand but do I get full pay for the week I handed my notice or is it meant to be ssp?

Can't answer without knowing how long have you been employed and what is the contractual notice period in your contract?
  • I’ve I was employed just over three years and the notice period is a week.

It sounds like you need some professional advice such as from citizens advice about accidents at work and their impact upon your life and work.

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/accidents-at-work/

("If the company or organisation you reported your accident to has more than 10 employees, they must record it in an accident book. It’s a good idea to make sure it’s been done.")

The fact that you have been forced to hand in your notice because of the effects of the accident at work means that you may be able claim compensation from your employer. Seems to me that your employer owes you far more than just a week in hand or even full pay!
