Hello, i was wondering if anyone could help. My ex is self employed and has worked as a long term freelancer for the same company as well as doing odd jobs on the side. He has not paid tax for over 5 years though. He recently refused to keep paying maintenance which was agreed between us personally fo rout two children and so I had to go through the child maintance service in order to get him to support our children financially however they have calcualted a generic amount that he has to pay due to the fact that they do not have any information from HRMC to go on which is much less then he should be paying. Does anyone know what the next step is and how I get the correct amount without any information from the HRMC to go on?
Many thanks

Lots of people don't pay any tax. If his business profits are less than the Personal Allowance then there would no reason for him to have paid any tax.0 -
You can report him to HMRC on 0800 788 887 and they might investigate his tax affairs. It would be best to give them some evidence of his income even if this is only historical evidence. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.2

How do you know he doesn't pay tax? You are making a lot of assumptions here where is your evidence?
As a freelancer / contractor his business that he is running gets the money not him, and tax is paid on this and if he takes a wage.0
