Windows live mail 2012 doesn't work in forced Windows 10 upgrade

Perhaps someone can help with some remaining problems with this 'supported Mail app in Windows 10' (does it have a proper name?)
I've linked it to my two accounts, my main one one googlemail, and another microsoft Live which I rarely use. With the main account, when the user receives my mail it places a nickname I often used years ago in front of my Email, in this format:
nickname <Email>
which completely baffles people. I can't see it myself when I write the mail only when they reply, so I assume it's something to do with the windows 10 mail app?. I'm unclear where it has emerged from. I've spent hours going through every corner of Googlemail to remove it, but can't find were it's coming from.
Second problem, the Windows 10 mail app seems to open the message in a screen on the right and I can only see half of it. Can this be adjusted? I can open the message in my browser but this takes about half a minute to open.
This is why I was always reluctant to change!0 -
The "nickname" thing is generated by the email software your receiver uses, not you. You just set your name to Bulbo Baggins, send an email and to anybody else they'll get an email from Bulbo Baggins. If they want to assign you a nickname of Baggy for example, that's up to them.

I've just realised the Email is using the name I use when first logging into windows, so in theory all I need to do is to change that. I thought I had found how to do it here.
Unfortunately I need to change my default Microsoft account (I seem to have two). Hopefully changing it won't cause more problems such as logging onto windows in a morning because I've no idea what the password is.
