Autumn Budget scrapped - pensions safe for now!

The Treasury has scrapped plans for an Autumn Budget this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement said: "As we heard this week, now is not the right time to outline long-term plans - people want to see us focused on the here and now.

"So we are confirming today that there will be no Budget this autumn."

  • Probably the right decision given the current situation. They still don't know the full extent of what they are dealing with so making any sweeping changes or commitments now would be foolish.
Personally the longer the current regulations stay in place the better as I think any changes will influence me negatively.
  • *phew* was dreading the budget lol
Just my opinion, no offence 🐈

    That's a relief
  • To be honest the longer the crisis continues and the more cash the Government has to print to stave off mass unemployment, the more likely the net will have to be cast for clawing some of the money back. Thank god we haven’t got any more major potential financial disasters looming.....

Only delays pain of triple lock being decimated future years, though very good use indeed.

One small silver lining from Covid. The government is so busy with that it does not have the ability to interfere in our lives. When Covid is finished, hopefully they can distract themselves with something else other than tinkering and interfering with our lives.

Are you reading and watching the same news I am...? I could have sworn the Prime Minister made a broadcast last night which involved (amongst other delights) 10PM curfews, heavy fines on anything more than a very small social gathering, and the army being put on standby to support the police...

Pretty sure the ginormous government spending of 2020 is going to need paying for somehow...

With the annual contribution allowances being unchanged for yet another year. Inflation is progressively reducing the real value. Saying and doing nothing is equally as effective.

Even with CPI increases the LTA for next year wont be much higher than this year!
