Underpayment of married women's state pension

A few days ago I asked if anyone had experience of trying to claim back underpayment of state pension. There was a lot of very interesting and good advice but sadly no one who had managed to go through the system. I am glad to say the DWP have now paid me the arrears which came to £9098.00. I am told that I am also due compensation and interest. How much should I expect to receive?

According to this article https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-8581203/Women-underpaid-state-pension-13-YEARS-fight-payouts.html
The DWP says that 'interest and consolatory payments' will be considered on a case-by-case basis and depend on individual circumstances.

Thank you. Typical DWP answer. Very airy fairy. Surely intrest rates ought to be at a fixed level. I can understand consolatory payments will probably vary.0

Don't forget that as State Pension is taxable you will potentially have a bill from HMRC to pay in due course.0

Airy-fairy means grounds to appeal for further money. You should be looking to see what you think they should have compensated you for so that any appeal can be promptly written. Look on that as an advantage at this stage.pelikie said:Thank you. Typical DWP answer. Very airy fairy. Surely intrest rates ought to be at a fixed level. I have been trying to pursue a query concerning my deceased mother and whether she was underpaid her state pension. My initial contact was on 10 March 2021 and I have been in contact with DWP on 4 further occasions as I had not received any information. The latest contact, 17 January 2022, implied that records are kept for only a certain amount of time and possibly for only 3 years. Does anybody know if this is correct? My mum died 6 years ago and I was an executor of her estate. I am still awaiting a promised call back.0

We wrote to the government about pensions in general and without any questions being asked, notification was received that my wifes pension had been underpaid by over £8000 and in addition was due extra due to government mistakes. I you have any reason to suspect that your payment level is wrong contact Dept. for Work and Pensions0
