HSBC - Survey instructed on application or after underwriting approval?

Hi,
My vendor has just told me that my survey is being completed next week, however my application with HSBC is with underwriting as far as I am aware?  I was under the impression that HSBC only instruct a survey once initial checks have been done and are provisionally approved subject to survey?

Can I breath a sigh of relief that if the survey goes well that I should receive my offer or would the survey be instructed straight away?

Thanks!

  • It seems to change. Ours was on application, but others have had it as a last step.
  • Ours was instructed at the last stage.

    Direct or broker?
Direct they underwrite the person, issue an offer subject to valuation then a formal offer.
Broker they instruct the valuation and do the underwriting together and issue the formal offer alone.
