Reglaze glass at Specsavers

Has anyone had their glass reglazed at Specsavers? Have appointment for an eyetest tomorrow and know my sight has changed. Every year they tell me I need new glasses, I've got so many old pairs, it's such a waste and expensive. So I want to be ready for when they try to sell me a new pair.

You don't of course have to buy your glasses from them. You have an absolute right to take the prescription elsewhere.
Most opticians charge quite a fee for re-glazing, partly because of the risk of damaging the frame and partly to try and encourage you to buy something new. The mark up they make is huge!
You could of course send your old glasses and the new prescription to one of the online places for re-glazing although they too will apply a "re-glaze" fee which will be more than their basic frames. Still worthwhile if you like the frames you have got or if they are upmarket ones.

Reglazing can be more expensive than new frames + lenses - however I do it as I don't want lots of old frames cluttering up the place, and I'm happy with the frames I've got.

There are charities that collect old pairs of glasses - or at least there were, not sure if they take them at the moment obviously. Our local independent optician used to have a collection box for them, although to be fair I've never seen one in any Specsavers.1

This year the optician at Spec Savers suggested I did this as my glasses were new last March and only my left lens needed changing, they warned me that should they break the frame when doing it they wouldn't replace the glasses I would have to pay for them, but due to the age of my frame it shouldn't be a problem. When I've needed both lenses replaced last year there was only about a £20 saving in having my existing frames reglazed. Due to the type of lenses I require I'm unable to take advantage of cheap online options and tend to wait for their BOGOF offers as I have sun glasses and occupational glasses as wellLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1

Can easily be done unless it is a plastic frame donkeys years old. Some places won't do it to force you to buy a new pair.
Have broken 2 frames in 20 years doing it so risk is so minimal and rare I have supplied a new frame each time.

I should say that I chose to have them reglaze my lens (when I was growing up this is what my parents always chose to do) it took approx 90 mins for them to do two pairsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1

Specsavers tend to only reglaze frames supplied by them.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
