time to complete after mortgage interview?

Has anyone had their mortgage interview recently? how long does it take after that until you can have an idea of moving date?
We have until 13th October before our interview with first direct and have to use them as we are half way through a fixed deal. We are organising our own homebuyers report so all they need to do is a standard valuation which may be done as a desktop. All the other bits are well underway in terms of legal stuff so hope we should be almost there with legal things by 13th oct.
The property we are buying is not much more expensive than our current one so we are only borrowing a bit more on top of our current mortgage.
