O/S Daily Sunday 20 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light bright and sunny.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, will go for a shower in a mo. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was the indian takeaway - enjoyed by us all, no LO's though. Lunch today will be roast lamb with all the trimmings.
Looks like being a lazy day - we seem to be having alot of those at the weekends! Back to work tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Thanks for starting us off NMLC.
Yesterday turned into a glorious day so I'm hoping that it'll be the same today. I'll go out for a while later if the rain holds off. I forgot to collect an order so that needs sorting.Nothing exciting on the horizon for today, it feels as if we're on the verge of more restrictions, it's in the air.I hope that everyone is doing OK. Happy Sunday to all.11 -
Morning All
After the glorious sunshine of the last few days we've got grey skies and some slight drizzle. Thankfully all the washing is done for now and I've even ironed this morning.
DD and I took little Sophie to the beach at Troon yesterday which was really lovely, we had a picnic lunch and Sophie walked for miles pottering about. She fell over every couple of steps as the sand is quite uneven but didn't complain once, just got up and carried on. I nearly didn't go but so glad I did.
I must do some housework this morning and maybe have a trip to the allotment - the leeks are about to bolt so I'll take them up but may have to freeze them or they'll go soggy really quickly. The beds up there need to be cleared but there are a couple of courgettes that may make it so I'll leave them.
Not a lot else planned, it will be nice to have a relaxing day although we have a long weekend coming up so I can regain some sort of normality then. The garden is fairly tidy as I spent a couple of hours out there on Friday afternoon, couldn't believe how long the grass was. The bike was eventually collected on Friday too so that's freed up quite a lot of space in the shed.
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend and MM and BB are recovering well. Take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for kicking off. A bit dull outside but feels mild enough and sunny spells are forecast.
A day of same old same old here/ I am thinking it's time I did a wardrobe swap and took the summer clothes to the back wardrobe and brought in the winter stuff. After a nice couple of days it's supposed to be all change come midweek with temps dropping so I want to be prepared! I have a feeling I bagged up some winter stuff for the cs in the early days of Covid so may need to do a re-stock of jumpers.
Not yet christened lunch but I have a hankering for cauli cheese so that will be on the menu with whatever tempts me when I do a freezer dive.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Hope the convalescents are improving and being looked after. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Hi everyone,
I am in misery at the moment, we have a flea infestation from Ziggy visiting us a few weeks ago and they are so hard to get rid of. We are both being bitten to death. We had dogs of our own for over 30 years and never had this problem but Ziggy goes out with a dog walking service in London and although she is treated every month we still have a problem. I have just spent a fortune on traps and smoke bombs. We don't like using the smoke bombs but sprays don't seem to work and the traps are good but we can't be sure they catch them all. Sorry fr the rant but I am itching like billio and it's driving me mad.
We are luckily in an area where covid cases are still reasonably low but Laura is now refusing to see us especially as she is now at College one day a week and Esben is at nursery. I hope they hurry up with the vaccines because I can't see this ending until there is one.
Have a good day all and I hope MM and BB are recovering well from their ops.

Morning all
Bright here but with a fierce wind its blowing stuff all over the garden, I washed one of the the wheelie bins out yesterday and left it in the garden to dry it was being blown all over the patio this morning and has now been blown over.
Not up to much today will give the dogs good walk and OH will mow the lawn.
There is some left over chicken for tonight so i might do some mash and salad with it I made coleslaw yesterday and there is some left so that will go nicely with it.
We still seem to be able to get shopping slots etc down here but people on FB re starting to say they are stocking up on flour beans etc I can see its going to cause more panic buying and the shops will be empty again before we know it !!
Right better get on have good days all xx10 -
Morning all, it's still windy here but it's dry.I have calmed down after my meltdown yesterday but now I'm feeling the after effects of the jab, very sore arm, headache and hot/cold and listless, but there's not much happening here today that needs my attention anyway.I broke the handle off my slow cooker lid yesterday being a clumsy clara
so I've sent it to my handy man for fixing. I need to bake a loaf, empty the washing basket, which is still full of clean washing from yesterday and put the clothes away. I took out some banana and sultana muffins from the freezer so I will melt some white chocolate to go on top too.
Tea tonight will be a hm leftover chinese curry and rice with a naan bread for Mr Fix It and I'll have paella, both from the freezer. I'll be happier when the sm delivery arrives and I can fill the freezer back up, or at least fill in some of the big gaps.Take care all, stay safenan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Oh poor you SNOOZER. I would be demented too at the thoughts of them. We were fortunate with the dogs we had, we never had a flea problem but it was a different story for DD with the cat that came with their house (owners going to live in Tasmania and asked if they wanted the cat as well!) They were all bitten to death and the blighters took some getting rid of.
I have done my wardrobe swap over and wasn't as ruthless as I thought with jumpers in the spring. So no need for a spending spree. I have two black skirts that have been doing hokey cokey between wardrobes every winter and spring and I can't remember when I last wore either of them. I just spend all winter in trousers/jeans and can't decide if it's time for them to go or hang on to them for a bit longer, just in case! Sod's law I will need one if I get shut!
