Declaration of trust

Hi guys,
My partner and i are buying a house together and one of us is putting in a much larger deposit than the other.
Ofcourse we both hope we will be together forever but we also want to be sensible just encase some thing goes wrong with our relationship.
We are not married.
We have been quoted £400 for a declaration of trust but we wondered if tenants in common would just do a similar thing?
Or is it a case that tenants in common won't detail enough of what happens if we break up?
Would be interested in anyone's feed back who may have been in a similar position.

Read the numerous threads on here and housing board on people that have asked the same thing and those that paid solicitors and they got a duff deed drawn up.

We had a declaration of trust drawn up by our conveyancers and it didn't cost £400 more like £125 I believe.
We are also tenants in common. It's only valid until we are married however.1 -

£400 is expensive, there are companies who specialise in DOT that offer it for £180.0

Thank you! Did you use the same solicitor that did your conveyancing or a different one?Kiwistrawb1990 said:

We used Oneill Patients but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone they were awful. Slow at communicating, missed our exchange deadline because they'd lost documents they were terrible.markharriers said:
