Remortgage with poor credit rating

Me and my wife are coming to the end if our 5 year fixed rate mortgage deal in February and are wanting to remortgage with the intention of borrowing enough to do vital home improvements on the house. My credit rating was good until last year when I got a ccj for paying a parking fine 2 days after the 30 day period, my credit rating is now poor. My wife's credit rating is still very good. Is it better to apply for the remortgage together or would it be better if it was just in my wife's name?

Comments

  • It will depend on how much the ccj was and if it is now settled as to what rates you are looking at.
Dont do it in one name - there are costs to remove you and also to put you back on again.
