O/S Daily Friday 18 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry underfoot but air is cool, it soon warms up - have got all the washing line dried in the past few weeks - will see if there's enough for another load this morning.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was hot quiche, boiled egg, ham, pork pie (menfolk), skinny chips, coleslaw, HM veg tart - for those that wanted some, side salad. Tonight will be something quick and easy.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted so today will be just pottering about. I'll be heading to the SM first thing to do the food shop.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's cold and foggy here might improve a bit I hope.Meanmarie, hope you are continuing to recover, it sounds as if you're doing well. Not a lot going on here, we finished tidying up outside yesterday, and did jobs around the house, DH nipped out to our local shops for a new pair of trainers, that was about it.We are now in a local lockdown here, but it seems we can still go away in the caravan as we'd planned, since we won't be visiting anyone in their home. We aren't going far, up to Berwick, so we think we'll do it.Friends of ours are going away in their motor home, they are of the same mind as us, if we can go, we might as well. They are not going far either. We had just started our friends' Friday night visiting a few weeks ago, so that will come to a standstill again, and a planned coffee morning at Dobbi*s today has been cancelled, hey ho, what can we do.Autumn seems to be coming on fast now, it's dark so early, but yesterday was a lovely day. We might get some good weather while we're away, we'll hope for the best.Well, I'll stop nattering on about nowt in particular, and wish everyone a happy Friday - take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A pleasant day in store again and the washing is waiting to go out on the line. Thicker stuff like bath mats and towels but should dry when the sun gets on them.
Yesterday with the DGDs all here for tea made life feel more normal and it really cheered me up having their company. round the table again. An hour or two here and there in the garden with one or another of them hasn't been the same.
So the Friday Tidy is on the agenda for today. It will be another half hearted affair as my leg is still giving me grief. Fortunately I am able to sleep better without getting woken up every time I move. But the big excitement of the day will be the Tesco delivery this afternoon. I hope nothing gets subbed I want it just as I ordered please! There will be the usual Friday update on our local restrictions at some point but I don't expect much in the way of change. Oh well it is what is and what will be will be. Some of us will carry on and obey the rules whilst others won't. There are rumours that the wards which were released 2 weeks ago will be back in again today as their cases are on the rise.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning All
Thick fog here this morning but it's supposed to clear to give us a warm sunny day. The washing was dry when I got home yesterday, more has gone out today including the bedding - it looks pretty sad hanging in the fog!
I had an hour in the garden last night, the hanging baskets are still going strong and they needed water, it takes ages to dead head them but it's worth it. I'm sure they will only last another couple of weeks. One of the planters at the front has a sunflower in, goodness knows how it got there, probably the birds.
Anyway, glad it's Friday although I probably won't get a break again today as a colleague is off sick again. It's fish and chips at the dinner hall which always cheers everyone up!
So glad you could have the family in for their meal TA.
Have a good day if you can, take care. XX14 -
Morning all, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I tried to post yesterday but the Internet connection died, only a temporary glitch but annoying.
Nothing of much interest going on here, I will go up to the corner shop soon, for veg and fruit but that's about all. Might go for a more interesting walk later.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all.
No time to post really as am off to do the fortnightly SM shop any minute now.
Then my DS2 is calling in to collect DGD's birthday presents for tomorrow.
Anyway, have as good a day as possible everyone. Maybe back later.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Hi everyone,
I had a lovely day yesterday, looking after Esben while Laura had her first day back at College. He was a delight, such a busy boy and no tears while he was with me at all. He had an hour at nursery (he has full days while Laura's at college from next week) and cried at the end but I think he was hungry and he stopped as son as I gave him a rice cake. Laura's only at college one day a week, she cycled there and back because she doesn't want to use the tube or buses yet. i don't know when I'll see them again now with cases rising we have t be a bit more cautious again.
Steve spent the day at Chris and Crystal's (they are still in Italy) supervising a workman because Chris was a bit worried he might route the new water pipe the shortest way which would interfere with the neighbour's soakaway. Anyway it's done now, apparently the old pipe was lead so we're all relieved it's gone. Chris has to contact Anglian Water now because they say they will check and replace their bit of pipe if it's also lead.
Today will be a quiet day because I'm tired after yesterday - my hat goes off to grandmothers (and grandfathers) who do it day in, day out, all the lifting makes me ache!

Morning
Lovely day again here although distinctly chilly first thing when I put the bins out.
Still waiting for news of our lockdown but its pretty inevitable.
Plans are to try and enjoy the last ditch attempt of the sun later with a new book and catch up with calls. Yesterday was back to garage decluttering and I got rid of a fair bit of stuff I have never and likely will never use. Still a very long way to go but the bin can only hold so much.
Other excitements in my day will be the shop for tomorrows delivery and a zoom call with one of the volunteer organisations
Need a fish friday to keep with my fish twice a week goal so the plan is for a tuna caper and anchovy orzo.
Have a lovely day all14 -

Morning all,Brr it was a bit chilly & misty on the park this morning, but promise of a nice day. I'd better have a look to see what I can find for tea as we are picking up the DGC from school and it's always a bit of a rush after that.Last night we had salad & various cold meats & pate, with some of those ready to bake baguettes. Also did 2 loaves in the bm as we were completely out of bread, never a good idea with 3 hungry men prowling round for food all the time. I don't know where they put it!I couldn't sit out yesterday as there were builders at the back, and next door but one, who must have a dodgy roof as there is a scaffold up now- I wondered what the banging and clanging was. Instead as it was so nice I walked up to the park and sat with an ice cream cone on a bench , it was quiet. No rogue motorbikes/quads either, perhaps the police got them Taff, they're always on the lookout and post on their fb page when they've confiscated something.MM glad to hear you're being well looked after, and BB hope your op goes well with a good recovery.Nelski, glad the declutter is going well, I can report my kitchen island is clearer than it's been for weeksTime for another brew, have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
