Convincing myself the cycle commute is worth it

I use Merrell hiking shoes and flat pedals on my bike and they've held up well through pretty miserable conditions on the MTB particularly. After trying clipless pedals for a couple of years and changing systems I never liked them and switched back to flats so don't feel you have to change to clipless pedals if you prefer flats.1

I have a good pair of hiking boots but they'd probably be a bit too much for cycling so I might look at getting a pair of shoes specifically to use on the bike. I've just seen a few likely candidates online.0
