Lakeland Professional Washing Up Brushes (pack of 2)

Seeing as how we could get the best part of two years' use out of one of Lakeland's excellent professional washing up brushes, we were miffed to find earlier this year that they seemed to permanently out of stock nowadays. But hurrah! Through the letterbox last week comes the latest Lakeland catalogue, and there they are - listed again!
So ... off to the nearest Lakeland store, and back home with two packs of 2, which at the previous rate of consumption will possibly see at least one of us out. But alas! All I'd noticed in the store is that although they still looked the same and were still branded "Stiwex", the bristles are a lighter shade of blue. What I hadn't noticed until I got home is that they've done a crafty and now cheapened the product (but not the price) by giving it 5 rows of bristles instead of the previous 7 ...

I'm sure they'll still do the job but perhaps won't last quite as long.0

Lidl have packs of two for less the £2
Things like that I class as consumables, along with loo brushes, and change them regularly so don't spend a lot on them1 -
That doesn't help the OP as he has already bought them1

Quite. My point in posting was simply to highlight another example of a product being cheapened without that being obvious to the purchaser at point of purchase. But hey, maybe it's only me who hates this sort of thing ...joedenise said:That doesn't help the OP as he has already bought them

No not at all! I think it's what is called Shrinkflation with regard to food! Smaller packs for the same price, very annoying especially when the packaging is still the same size and the item inside has shrunk quite considerably!

Count me “in” Si. I hate it when the packaging says the same size, but the contents shrink. Packets of biscuits spring to mind where once you got 12 “chocolate chip cookies” now you get 8 or 10. Very misleading.Si_Clist said:

I think that's a good point from a money saving point of view, but it doesn't help the planet (not a criticism, just an observation)! I too used to like the Lakeland brushes as they lasted wellApintplease said:Lidl have packs of two for less the £2

My Wife Bought a Joseph Joseph Edge brush 5 years ago which I initially baulked at at £8, however 5 years later and it still looks like new! So that is a lot less brushes going to landfill as noted above. I would happily buy another in an instant.
By comparison our office bought a £1.50 brush 2 weeks ago, and that looked worse after a week than ours does after 5 years!
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.2 -

Im coming from a place where I think they are like loo brushes, only have a short shelf life
I personally don't use them as I find other products far more useful. We do have to use them in work but I buy new every month as I really cant be sure of what germs are hanging around the bristles ( working with raw food, we have to be very careful and our cleaning products are limited )1
