I am a small business owner involved in the wedding industry. Prompted by verbal claims made by a company representative about the number of wedding bookings I could expect from the listing, I signed a contract for advertising space with a prominent UK bridal website. I was not aware of the implications at the time but the contract was a rollover type, which means that if you do not give notice within strict guidelines, the contract is enforceable the following year too.
Fast forward to September 2020; Despite considerable work on my part, I have made no bookings that can be attributed to my listing. The weddings website wants to enforce the contract even though they have not delivered on verbal rhetoric. The cost of the listing was around £220. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Looks like they have you. A verbal promise isn't worth the paper it's written on.0
