What a minefield!!
My nephew is getting a PSP for Christmas so I said I would get him a game for it... But when I look all the games seem to be a bit too violent.
Can anyone recommend any games (preferably cheap ones too!)

the first thing to find out is what kind of games he likes,
does he like, car racing, or fighting, of action or sports games ???
you could buy him a game like sega mega drive collection for the psp, this has 30 classic sega games on it, like sonic, shinobi, golden axe etc, and loads more, they sell this gane in argos for £19.99 , but this is in a section where you can get 2 games for £25, check out the other ones at argos, for a list of what ones are on this offer0 -
Try Lumines if he likes puzzle games
or Mercury / Mercury meltdown
Daxter for a platform type game
Or Lemmings
Or how about Sodoku?
Hope this helps,

I agree Lumines which is a puzzle game is brilliant and utterly addictive, Daxter is also considered to be very good,
also depending on style of game liked
Racing = Ridge Racer or Burnout Legends or Wipeout Pure
Sports = Pro evolution Soccer 6 or Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf
platform (adventure) = Ratchet & Clank : Size Matters or Lego Star Wars 2 The original trilogy ( this is rated as a age 10 product)
for good ideas and to find out what to buy go to Metacritic.com which accumulates all the review scores and ranks games etc
if you want hem cheap consider buying secondhand from Gamestation as any I have bought from them look like new so you could get say Daxter and Wipeout Pure for £10 each from them0 -
My son is 9 and wants Worms 2 for his PSP for xmas.0

My OH has asked for lego starwars for xmas which is £19.99 in Argos, he is nearly 40 but he enjoys playing the PC version that my 8 year old daughter has.0

My son who is 9 has most of the Lego Star Wars games on both Gameboy Advance and one on PSP, there may be lightsaber fighting but no blood and guts. For his PSP he also has Disney Cars and Over the Hedge. I had to be persuaded to allow him to have a age 12 game, he showed me one age 3 game had a parental warning of 2 and the age 12 game had a parental warning of 1.
When he comes in from school I will quiz him about games.

He loves the Lego Star Wars Trilogy on the PS2 (as do I!!) but his mum has already got him that!
Will have a look at worms and daxter and thanks for the tip about Gamestation - will check that out too. Not sure if he likes puzzle type games but it might give me a chance to have a go if I do buy him one
Speaking of Lego Star Wars - DH bought it yesterday for the Wii (he has no idea that christmas is near  ) and it is FAB, FAB, FAB :T :T :Tplease listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

How about that Simpsons game... Is it only for the PSP and surely that can't be in the same vein as Resident Evil, can it?
I'm thinking it might be suitable for my nephew, he's about?! 8/90 -
Worms open warfare 2 is the one you want. Also try Micro Machines V4, Monkeyball adventure and Bust a move ghost (if he like puzzle games)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!
