  • Hi, we currently have an application in with Nationwide. We are 40% LTV and the application went in on 02/09. They asked for a document (Award letter for DLA) last Saturday which we submitted on Monday. My question is even though we went through a broker am I able to ring them? I feel like we are not getting anywhere and when I get in touch with our broker he just says he hasn't heard anything yet. He was supposed to be escalating the case on Monday but he hasn't let us know yet if this was successful or not! Our chain is just waiting on this offer as all the searches etc. have been done. Im worried this will lose us our dream home.
    Thankyou.

Nationwide are currently about 10 working days. Tuesday 13th would have been day 1 so I don't think you will hear anything until 26th at the earliest. Nationwide will only escalate if the solicitor will advise them that completion is due within next 5 working days
  • Ok thank you.

  • nationwide mortgage offer, due to exchange next week and complete 30th October.
the mortgage offer days the 1st put will come out 1st of the month after competition, so would that be 2nd November? or as completiting last working day of October they would take 1st payment December?

  • We got a DIP with HSBC, passed credit checks on full application submission, passed valuation survey on 29th Sept but over the last 2 weeks HSBC have come back 3 separate occasions asking for more info on my partners maternity leave.
Any reason why they would keep coming back for more info and documents multiple times and not just request this the first time a couple of weeks ago? It can feel unnerving.
  • We have a mortgage application in progress with Natwest.

Since the application was submitted I’ve come across two recurring monthly payments for old debts to debt collections agencies (1 to Wescot credit (£5.01 & another to Buchanan Clark & Wells £5.04)
Neither of these debts show on my credit files. (They’re over 6 years old)

On contacting the debt collection agencies in question one of the debts has long been cleared and I’ve been paying for no reason 🤦🏼‍♀️ The other still has an amount outstanding.
@haras_n0sirrah Could these be flagged up as reasons to refuse the mortgage application?

  • Hi, I have applied for a residential mortgage with TSB via a broker. I already have a BTL mortgage with TSB, do you think this puts me in a good stead with them and speed up my application?
  • How are things with self build mortgages at the minute? We seem to be getting bumped from every house that we put an offer in on and are wondering if it’s worth going down this road? Thanks

It wont be within a couple of days of completion. You will get a letter confirming when your first payment will be taken about 2 weeks after completion

What are the questions? Are they asking specific questions they aren't getting answers to?
