Mortgage broker - ask me anything

@FTBSolihull There’s nothing stopping you recommending a broker. I used KS, the broker who runs this thread and she has been excellent. ACG also has a great rep if you have a very poor credit score. You can see their posts and judge for yourself.lonibra said:
There a couple of really good advsers who post on the forum and do not make you feel stupid for asking questions. I think people are not allowed to name advisers but let me know if you want me to message you.FTBSolihull said:Can anyone recommend a mortgage advisor, please?0 -
Hi I would like some advice about mortgage over payment please. My partner and myself are looking at two mortgages for our new house. One mortgage has £1500 cash back offer and for fixed 5 years you get one annual overpayment at 10% cap. The other mortgage had no cash back but is very similar except you can overpay monthly with an annual limit of 10% also. My question is it better to over pay mortgage on a monthly basis or annually, is annually building up lots of extra interest? The interest on the annual mortgage is calculated quarterly. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you0

Hi i needed some advice regarding commission payments. I wanted to apply with Barclays or HSBC but i am not sure how they will treat my commission payments which are paid quarterly. It seems like they only accept weekly or monthly?
I did tried speaking to them but their answers were not helpful.0 -
@decrement Can't predict how they will treat your commission as that depends on the specifics, but in principle commission being quarterly (instead of weekly/monthly) isn't an issue.decrement said:Hi i needed some advice regarding commission payments. Hi,
My Santander mortgage is coming to an end in July with a balance of around 32k. I'm considering borrowing 10k more for some home improvements.
When I log in to manage my mortgage there is an option to borrow more but that extra borrowing is separate to the mortgage with a rate of 2.99%, is this how extra borrowing works? Could I not get it added onto my mortgage so that I owe 42k? As the rate I can get is 1.59% with a new deal
Thanks in advance.0 -
My mortgage broker told me to run a credit check before our appointment on my credit check.
i got 879 - bit surprised it is so low, and it seems to be because of financial association with my brother.
will this impact on my application?0 -
@redwino222 The number itself isn't particularly meaningful. Besides the association, is there anything on the report to be concerned about - late/missed payments, arrears, defaults, etc etc.Redwino222 said:My mortgage broker told me to run a credit check before our appointment on my credit check.

Unless the association is recent/active and your brother has a poor credit history, it *shouldn't* have a huge impact, but that depends on the specifics.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. There are no missed payments, no red flags at all. I owned a house with my brother But we sold it ten years ago, joint mortgage and bank account were closed then.0

@redwino222 In that case, I wouldn't worry about it.Redwino222 said:There are no missed payments, no red flags at all. I owned a house with my brother But we sold it ten years ago, joint mortgage and bank account were closed then.
