Mortgage offer conditions - help!

Hi,

I have been given an updated mortgage offer which Had to be amended due to a change in circumstances. Two of the conditions are to repay my loan and credit card. I’ve repaid these but am conscious that it may take a while for an update to be given in letter form given the current ways of the world! We are actually really close to exchanging contracts which I obviously really don’t want to delay this, is there anything else I can provide to my solicitor to show those accounts have been settled please? Both accounts were with Halifax. I didn’t know if screenshots of texts and the screen saying the account has been repaid I have would suffice?

I would greatly appreciate any help That you guys can offer please... getting desperate 🥺 lol.

thank you 😊

  • Sounds like you should ask your solicitor. We can only guess what they would require.

I also don't buy it that it would take that long to get a statement either printed online or through post.

They will just want confirmation, a statement or screenshot would be enough for most solicitors.

What does the condition actually say? The one I'm used to for the Halifax is that you need to repay them no later than completion i.e. you don't need to do it earlier than that. And nor do they instruct the solicitor to check - has your solicitor asked you for anything?

This is usually only a problem if your solicitor is a pedant.
Most will draw your attention to the condition and leave it with you to sort. Occasionally a solicitor wants proof on file.
