Single mortgage application but married

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a mortgage as a single person in Scotland even though you are married? My husband bought a flat to rent over ten years ago so would have to pay the extra 4% and I just wondered if there was a way around this. If not that’s ok just wondering. Many thanks

I am assuming the rules will be the same as in England where there is no way around the additional stamp duty. Once you are married you are classed as one individual when it comes to stamp duty.0
