completion delays due to no water connection

Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone has had same experience or knows anything.

basically we are buying a new build off plan and we have received our mortgage offer.
And completion was meant to be end of September/October.

Our housing association emailed last week to say they have had some delays with handover of the development due to no water connection so handover is now looking like January / Feb 2021!!!

does anyone know how long it takes to get a water connection?

Thank you :)

That would depend on where the nearest suitable point on the current water distribution network is, and what is between that point and your development, but the process should have begun before construction began, so presumably something has gone wrong...

Water companies like everyone else will have a backlog of work. Heading into the winter months. The weather will have a material bearing on what work can be undertaken.

Pretty commonplace for utility connections to hold things up, developers don't have any real control over how long the utilities take. Yet another of the risks of buying off-plan!

it used to be a pub so I know there is water connections there. but I just hope it doesn't take to much longer to fix fingers crossed!
