Do NatWest credit search a financial associate?

Hi, my partner is applying for a solo mortgage with Natwest as I’m a sub contractor and have only been one for 7 months. It was just easier to make it a solo application for now as partner has a “perm position” and currently has a mortgage on his own anyways. I’ve received an alert this morning that Natwest has credit searched me? I’m just wondering if they can do this despite me not being on the mortgage?
We don’t have any joint accounts other than the electric and gas bill.

If you have a financial association they have every right.1

So they can hard search anyone who is a financial associate? It’s not really a big deal but I don’t see how “they have a right”? It’s not a well known thing to happen when I’ve asked around. We weren’t told they would do that by anyone either. We are only financial associates through probably the electoral roll? Think it’s crazy how they can dip into someone’s records without permission?0

You are financially tied because of the gas / electric, assuming one / both report to the CRAs.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

Yes. I just didn’t realise they could hard search someone who isn't on the application without informing that person 🧐.MovingForwards said:You are financially tied because of the gas / electric, assuming one / both report to the CRAs.0 -

I didn’t realise they could hard credit search someone without permission. Wonder how that complicated things for people who have been tied to ex partners/ex housemates etc.

People sever the tie when they stop having the joint agreement which put them as a financial associate.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
