hi, sorry in new to the forum and this category is the closest to my question I cold find, I hope it is the right one.
I work for wetherspoon and I just spotted today on their FAQ that due to the coronavirus we have had our holiday year extended from april2020-march2021, to march2022, so a whole extra year, i am sure that can't be right? I get 28 days off a year, does that mean that because we have been forced to stay out of the pubs by the government, i now have 28 days to use in the remaining 20 months? That does not sound legal at all, am I wrong? Any input would be appreciated, thank you

You’ve almost 100% misread it. Probably just letting you carry over holiday so you’ll have 56 days to take1

It quotes this:
Can I book holiday now?Yes, employees are able to book and take holiday. The current holiday year has been extended and will now run from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2022.
I can only make that they are not giving us anymore days on March 2021

I don’t read it that way at all. The current year has been extended. Next year still exists too. However Wetherspoons is hardly known for its fantastic employee treatment, but even they wouldn’t try and flout employment law so blatantly.0

OP Im reading it the same way as katrina, you have whatever is left over from current holiday year plus what is due the following year.0

Right, i see, thank you very much to both of you

Our holiday year used to run from 1st Jan - 31st December.
One year, we needed to move it to run from 1st May - 30th April.
So in that particular year, everyone had 1.25 years' worth of holidays to take.
And you now have 2 years' worth of holidays to take.Signature removed for peace of mind0
