Admin fees charged by employer

I work for a growing company in the telecommunications sector.
If we the workers have to do essential work in a bus lane For example then we get charged the fine by the council (usually £30) which employers choose to pay themselves and then to my annoyance we get charged an additional £50 admin fee, so the £30 fine costs us £80!!
We did get a letter saying this would be the case , and this admin fee btw is added to any fine we receive whilst working.
Is this legally ‘an actual thing’ or is someone taking the proverbial Michael ?
Thanks.

lol.  i think the OP is saying that they get charged £30 penalty and £50 admin fee so the employer pays the £30 penalty but won't pay the £50 admin fee.
however it would seem that the OP claims he needs to be in a bus lane??  so there is no way round it.  i can't imagine why the OP needs to be in a bus lane and if he does, the council won't issue penalty notices as it is essential work?
  • No , the work that is required sometimes takes place in bus lanes.
If it does we get a £30 charge from the council but because the employers take it upon themselves to pay it for us they add a £50 admin fee so it costs us £80 .. same as parking tickets etc etc.
It’s the £50 admin fee that I’m complaining about not the actual fine

Nope. Think the gist is OP has to do work which results in them getting a penalty charge for being in a bus lane, I'm guessing a company vehicle.
Company gets the penalty notice and pays it but then charges OP the penalty notice plus a 50.00 fee for handling it.

OP why are you having to stop in bus lanes and getting these charges.

So yes, your employer is asking you do break the law. 0 because they /you / someone isnt applying to the council for an exemption.

Simples stay out of the bus lanes.

You got a letter, so you know the score: park illegally and you'll not only be charged a fine by the local authority but your employer will slap on an admin fee when they recharge the fine to you.

    Don't park illegally.

i see.  they would only charge you the £50 admin fee because it was your fault.  i can't see how they would do so otherwise.

as someone else said, i can't see why your car has to be in the bus lane even if you had to do work in the bus lane.  you could park elsewhere and walk back.
