Heads up, compers! In order to investigate a technical issue, we've had to move some of the older threads from Game Over into a new category called 'Game Over Archives'. It'll be comps from before 2017, so shouldn't have too much impact on your day-to-day Forum experience. Thanks for your patience!

Less Competitions On Here?

Hi guys, I noticed that there are far less competitions on here than there used to be. Is this because companies are giving less away during covid etc or have people moved over to a different site as the numbers seemed to have gone down since the layout change also? Thank you

Plenty of competitions out there but yes, less people posting them and some of the regular competition posters have moved on to different sites.
Here's a wee stat for you and not sure of it's relevance. I've won about 20 competitions this year and none of them were posted on here.

Take a certain Goddess out of the equation and of course you will get fewer comps posted.

Ok thank you, what other sites do you use? Where have people moved over to? Also, how do you make sure you aren't duping yourself if on multiple sites? Thank you

The only other one I use is competition database. I see a few familiar names on the chat thread at the side of the page.
I'm sure someone said a few regulars now use Loquax. I don't use that site after a spat with the owner before I joined here many moons ago.
I have a pretty good memory for remembering which comps I've entered so not worried about duping myself. If a comp looks familiar then a quick check on here will let me know if I've entered or not.

Not had a win yet myself.
I'm not into doing loads though myself. More a tech type, so xbox, PC, laptop, record player, money, few vouchers. I would do holidays but from what I've seen all designed for 2 and I have no friends or anyone to go with.
Have been unemployed a while now mostly due to autism and colitis. I do have limited time though as I do keep myself very busy in the week. I would like to enter more comps but don't really have the time to search, so have mostly been coming here once a week, scrolling to the last comp entered and goin on till I reach page 1, so often getting to do about 20 pages and maybe enter about an average of 30. Are there any other sites other than Hotukdeals which list comps in a similar way?

There's loads of city break/hotel/B&B type comps that I know are designed for couples, but I doubt there's any rule that says you can't go alone, if that's what you wanted to do. The ones with travel thrown in would be good.
  • I didn't realise Loquax still existed! I used to use it years ago.

Yep and it's much bigger than the comps section here now. More active too with lots more comps.

Can anyone who's gone elsewhere or is using a different site in addition to this give us an idea of the scale of the difference in current comps volume between MSE and others? Are those who solely use MSE missing out on a few comps, or loads?

Edit - Just noticed I asked a question that has literally been answered in the post above..... I'm going back to bed!
