O/S Daily Friday 11 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light but air cooler again, dry underfoot.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, potato with leek and bacon gratin and a side of mushrooms - gratin was the special offer buy in MrL - went down very well. Tonight will be something quick and easy not sure what yet. I'm working today to help someone out.
Yesterday I had a nail appointment, then did a few chores and some shopping and visited the building society. I will do the food shopping tomorrow morning first thing.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks for the start off NMLC. It's fine but a nippy start here too. But at least no rain forecast.
Yesterday ended up a tour of all the supermarkets, not just Aldi! DD has favourite shops for this, that and the other! I got bits and bats from the other shops but my main shop was in Aldi. It just looked the same as early March, everything in the same place and still selling the things I wanted, with one or two new additions. Other supermarkets take note! Everywhere was much quieter than I remember. Most people in masks and observing social distancing.
Today I am gallivanting again. My buddy and I are off on another socially distanced bus ride to Skipton. It will be the usual browse of the market stalls followed by lunch and wine. We are hoping we will be able to bag an outdoor table somewhere and then we are not breaking our lockdown rule of meeting someone else indoors. This is ok when it's mild enough but won't be much fun in winter if the lockdown goes on!
The Friday Tidy will be postponed until tomorrow. I hate cleaning on a Saturday. Well I hate cleaning any day come to that but needs to be done. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them and take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -

Good morning everyone. There's a yellow weather warning in place for today and tomorrow so the waterproof walking shoes and jacket are ready and waiting. This morning I've got three appointments at the dental surgery. First one is for the new crown to be installed then I'm seeing the hygienist (first time this year) and then a consultation with a dental surgeon to discuss / assess further cosmetic work. I'll definitely need a lie down after that lot. This evening I'm zooming with some friends down south. One has a big birthday the other day and only had her own family to celebrate with. We have gin ready!TA. - it's lovely to know that you're getting out with at least one friend. Hope you enjoy it.I don't think it's going to get and lighter outside so I need to rouse myself a bit more.Happy Friday to all. 🤗10

Morning all.
Very quick call this morning. I'm off with a friend to deliver some stuff to the food bank and I'm not even dressed yet.
Had my hair cut yesterday and hope it looks better this morning when I've attacked it with brush and comb.
My DIL had to get a Covoid test this week. She got an appointment. In Manchester. She pointed out that she lived on the Isle of Wight and metaphorical shoulders were shrugged. She turned up at the local testing centre and had one straight away. They said that they'd had one man in who'd been given an appointment in Inverness.
AYouknowwhat in a brewery comes to mind.

Good morning, I am just motivating myself to get out of this bed. Walk in the park with the dog, collecting elderberries as I go. Washing machine to load up. General tidying. Online choir practice. Online exercise (trying out Bollywood dance). Planning weekend meals, maybe making a cake. I work two 12 hour shifts a week, so my days off are precious to me. I potter around, keep busy, enjoy the company of my cats, my dog and my son, who is currently living and working from home. Right, the news is on the radio and it's depressing. Time to get into the day.One life - your life - live it!13 -
Morning all
Overcast here but not raining the sun is meant to come out later and its meant to be a good weekend. OH is still off work his back is still so painful there is no way he could get into a car let alone work for the day, I really hope its better for next week bless him he really is suffering.
Dog walk today and sort something out for dinner we went to Lidl yesterday for shopping so we have plenty in, might do a curry we have not had one for a while. I have ordered a Mr M shopping delivery for next week as I shall be on my own with the two dogs and dont want to leave them for long, I have not used that supermarket before so it will be interesting to see what its like.
I did a bit more Christmas shopping last night I am trying to get dd and OH done by the end of October as the birthdays start then !!
Kitchen needs a tidy this morning and a sweep through, the rest can wait till tomorrow.
Have good days all xx12 -
Hello all, it's a bit dreary and grey but at least it's dry. I had a well needed lie in today, my batteries must have lost their oommph. Not much OSing will be done today as I have a Morries delivery due at lunchtime and it's all for Dad. I did him a big shop and he'll probably have a fit when he knows the cost, but he's not paying for it yet anyway, he has a tab
( I don't want to be put in the same position with him having no food like the last lockdown, despite my pleas beforehand ) I'll clean it etc. then take it up and put some of it away while Mr Fix It will cut one of his trees down. He's wittering that he can't see out because it's grown too tall......... you'd have to have a neck like Twizzle anyway, but he's become fixated on it so down it must come !! I've also got him a re-usable mask in case he does ever go out shopping because the Wag has finally deemed it necessary in shops as well as on transport. Honestly why is life never simple ? Answers on a postcard only please. Sorry that turned into an essay.
As usual I have no idea what to have for tea, but my freezers look fuller so there must be something in there I can grab. Probably something and oven chips comes to mind at the moment.Gers rather you than me at the dentists appointments, hope they go well.Monna I didn't recognise you with that new hair cutNargle Hello and welcome. Blimey you're busier than busy, when do you have time to breathe ?Bella enjoy the wedding planning even if it's only a little bit you can do.TA was Al*is still using the socially distant shopping ? The word around here is that our SM's seem to have thrown all that out of the window and are being warned by TPTB as are several pubs.Hope everyone can have a reasonable day.Take care all, stay safe out there and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Hi everyone,
I'm just snatching a few moments to myself while Esben has his nap, although now I'm on here I can't think of much to write. Laura has been doing an online sing and sign with Esben and so far he can regularly sign no (used now even when he is going up to something he knows he shouldn't touch), milk (used for all drinks), snake, duck and lion. He's very cute.
I hope MM reports in soon as to how her op went. TA, have a good day in Skipton, we'll be calling briefly to get petrol before going on to Grassington for walk. Did anyone see the new All Creatures with Grassington standing in for Darrowby? I'm enjoying it but the new Tristram doesn't have the charm of Peter Davidson who was one of my crushes back in the day.

Hello everyone. I'm a bit late online, I've been painting some trellises that are going to hide the bins at the front. Last year we bought some expanding screens that had imitation leaves on, they looked ok at first but were all breaking up and looked a mess, so DH took them to his skip at work. It took me ages to make sure I'd got into every nook and cranny!Snoozer I enjoyed All creatures...., watched the 2nd one last night. I hadnt realised the posh lady with the Peke was Diana Rigg who has sadly just passed away. We thought the square looked familiar & DH googled the location & confirmed Grassington. Enjoy your walkMonna - you couldn't make it up re the test apptsI just have a bit more to do outside then I'll decide on tea, plenty in the fridge. The bagless delivery was actually ok yesterday, the young man transferred it into my laundry baskets & I carted them inside. Felt a bit sorry for him as he put some ibuprofen in & said he'd had toothache for 2 weeks but as he'd just moved he hadn't got a dentist, and whoever he rang said he had to wait a bit longer. I did offer him a couple of the pills but he said he'd better not.Hope MM is ok after her op.Right better drink my cuppa and get cracking again, I'll probably flag later as I woke at 3.30 and ended up finishing my book on my kind1e.Think I dropped off again at 5
yawn. Take care everyone x

Afternoon - just back from the long-haul dentistry. Am all worn out and shook up! Turns out that the continued pain was coming from a second tooth so that had to have root canal treatment too - luckily no crown this time. It's just bad luck that two teeth got infected so closely together though at least it was caught early. So, new crown on tooth one not fitted on this visit, root canal treatment on tooth two done and front tooth repaired (yay). Then a session with the hygienist, they are not allowed to polish just now so just the scraping done. Lastly a lengthy session with the dental surgeon who showed me the scan and the work he has done on imaging the nerves etc. The work I want done will take about a year from start to finish so I'm keen to make a start. Now I'm worn out and hungry but happy that things are being sorted.12
