Bank statement references? Panicking

I have two references on my statements (Over 1 year though quite close together) where I transferred money to a friend and used an impropriate word that I won’t write. Will this or can this get my mortgage rejected, I don’t want to be turned away over something so stupid

  • Some lenders are asking for 1 month - 3 months statement.. some none at all.

Apart from the underwriter thinking you are that word you shouldn't worry about it from the mortgage pov

There was a case on here not too long ago where someone had some money transferred from their dad with the payment reference "Holiday Wonga"

Some idiot underwriter saw this when bank statements were provided and assumed it was from the payday loan Wonga, and declined the application.

So they may read these references but so what if you use the N word or the F word, or whatever, underwriters arent moral arbiters of bad language, absolutely no reason why they would reject a mortgage application on that basis.  In any case I would be very surprised if they asked for anything over a year back.

Think of it like this: do you really think a mortgage application would be rejected because you used a naughty word once or twice? That is essentially the question you are asking, now be rational and think what the answer will be ;)
