O/S Daily Thursday 10 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy, air feels cool, but dry.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 still in his pit as on leave. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight will be gammon, egg, and either chips, new potatoes or potato gratin.
Yesterday work was steady again now on a day off, but working tomorrow to help someone out.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Lovely bright morning but I think it's to be cloudy most of the day. I had a lovely hour in the garden last night, the sun was shining and the beautiful flowers cheered me up. I also had a walk down to Aldi for some bits, it was really quiet and I was there and back in half an hour.
I have some friends of DS2s coming tonight in their home made camper van. We'll go for something to eat and they are going to stay on the driveway, must remember to tell the neighbours. This lad was DS2s best friend at school and they have remained good buddies ever since, we used to call him our third son. Really looking forward to seeing him and his GF.
Right, off to the shower then another manic day at work beckons. Take care. XX13 -
Morning everyone.Today is cleaner day, we cancelled her last week so she's needed! I've never been one for doing housework, that sometimes feel awful though usually not for long. 😀 When she's here I'll go out to collect DM's scripts and get them filled. I've also a got a little parcel from Amazon to pick up from the local PO. DM wants some photos from her laptop put on her iPad so this adapter will help do that. I'll test drive the mini bag too.The best gadget I've bought recently is pill popper. It pops blister packed pills and has a tube which drops the pill wherever it's needed. Every week DM takes 88 pills. I fill a dosette but pushing out all those tablets is ruining my thumb nails, they end up shredded. Now no more. Small things do make a difference!I hope that everyone is doing OK, especially MM. Happy Thursday to all.13

Good morning, it seems to be a nice day, hope it continues.Yesterday was so exciting I've already forgotten what I did, I think it was hairdo, bit of shopping, and, like NMLC , prepared for making green tomato chutney.I had a quiet smile to myself, after an elderly friend rang, much concerned - were my family in Australia all right, she'd seen it on TV, it was terrible.Cue me wondering what was going on in Australia, I said as far as I knew they were all right,, I knew they'd been away for a weekend, and what had she seen on TV. Well, the wildfires she said, it's terrible, I thought of your lot straight away! The fires must be starting early, I started to say then light dawned, I think you've seen the wildfires in the US I told her, yes, she says, OH! I got the country wrong! We laughed about it, and I thought, well it was kind of her to think of them and ring me!!Today, I've got to deliver a birthday card, and continue digging us out here.Hope evryone has a good day, take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious sunrise here, the sky was glowing. Lovely!
Up and at 'em early again as I have an exciting morning ahead! I am going to Aldi for the first time since early March!!! DD picking me up at 8.15 at start of the school runs. They start earlier now middle DGD is at "big" school. Eldest DGD still goes earlier with her friend's mum.
MONNA nice to see you are ok. We missed you not just your thought of the day. I worry when friends go AWOL without warning!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all Dog walked and cuppa in hand so all is good the house is tidy and I have a Mr T delivery later with tins and jars I must admit to getting a little bit organised for winter and maybe more problems with Covid I make sure i always have enough for us mum and my nearest DD in case of emergency. Today will be a quick hoover round and then I am off for a manicure and pedicure as my lady is doing £10 off this month if you have both . DS came home yesterday and then went back to work last night and will probably be gone for 48 hrs . I managed to get 2 gifts in Costco yesterday at the price i wanted they were on discount so happy with that I really need to go to Lakeside for tree pressies but i don't feel comfortable doing so i might see if i can order online instead but it just makes you feel like all the fun has been sucked out of xmas shopping.
MM hope you are ok and all went well
Gers a pill popper sounds a good idea i may look into this for mum
Cmelot enjoy the visitors
Right onwards n upwards have a great day whatever you are up to and hugs and extra strength for all those who are unwell or feeling in need xxxSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning everyone, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I need to do paperwork, utterly failed yesterday, not essential for another week or so and I'm trying to summon up enthusiasm. If not this week, next week will do.
Not a particularly nice morning but not actually raining, there is a massive fungus on one of the trees which must be an indication if how damp it has been and smaller toadstools in the grass. For once, I don't have to do washing, just put away.
Mr M brought our shopping last night, OH put a lot of it away and I've been finding homes for the rest, nearly finished.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Hello all, had a bad night coughing again. I have no idea what it is ( maybe onset of asthma - family trait ) but it's so annoying. I had to be up early for an Icel*nd delivery which arrived on time today. It was all present and correct, now it's all been disinfected and awaiting "putting away". I have semi-filled the freezer void and also treated myself to some salmon with lemon and pepper coating, I will just need a shop from one of the big 4 to hopefully finish off. I also bought a few chocs for Xmas stocking fillers as we won't be going out shopping for Xmas presents either, we will have to do our shopping online.DD called last night with a thorntons cake for Mr Fix It ( and me
) so she stayed for a cuppa and some millionaires tart while waiting to pick up DGS from swimming. We are back doing the shouting across the patio whilst social distancing, it feels worse having to go through it this time round
She did tell me that 2 different schools in our borough have 2 children with covid, one 9 and one 11. That's frightening as they are the same age as our DGC.
We are waiting for the school run to pass and then we shall take the car out for a long drive, we won't stop, pass go or collect £200Later I may have a nana nap and/or watch a film I recorded called "Yesterday" which DD recommended, it's about the Beatles music.Tea tonight will be leftover corned beef hash with strawberries and cream/ice cream for pudding.
Take care all, stay safe and keep well. Healing vibes to the poorly ones and the families, hugs to anyone in need. MM best wishes for a speedy recovery.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Morning all,Cloudy but dry and cooler than it has been. I was the only one on the park this morning but I was out earlier as DS & DH have to drop DGS at school. He was dressed and ready when I got back, he says he loves Y2.They have kept the same teacher from last year so at least that's not another new thing to get used to. All seemed very organised when I went to get him yesterday afternoon, I saw their teacher squirting hand gel on their hands before he let them out one at a time.I have a sm delivery at lunchtime .One from the market too with my fresh veg,he's a lovely cheery man, they have decided to keep the online order & delivery going -I'm glad, it's so lovely and fresh. The butcher dropped off my meat pack yesterday, so should be nicely stocked up in case they ramp up the local rules again. I did roast chicken for tea last night from the pack, just with chips. A bit left for my lunch todayDH/DS are starting a new job today, and got paid straight away yesterday from the last job, though they have to go back at some point to do a bit more . In hindsight they should have left starting the new one until Monday, as the chap is coming fitting the carpets on Sat at DS house and a wall needed touching up, tidy up etc, they did a bit last night. I suppose the carpet fitter can always start upstairsMonna, glad to 'see' you, & hope everyone else is ok. Better clear the worktop ready to load the shopping onto. It's a bagless delivery today so I'd better find some big baskets or boxes, I'm all for less plastic but when you need as much food delivering as this household it could be a bit of a nightmare, we'll see. Take care x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12

Morning all
Bright and sunny day here but much cooler this morning, I have a wash just finishing and will get that on the line its quite breezy today as well so should dry.
DD and I will go shopping later on I will finish my list in a while it will be a basic list again as we are trying to cut down a bit as our grocery shop went through the roof for a while, we also have to go and collect her glasses from the opticians in Mr S which luckily is just opposite Lidl where we will shop.
I have started getting a few Xmas presents as well I have dd's and OH's main present so just need stocking fillers which will mean a trip to the shops, I cant abide shopping at the best of times and it will be horrible at the moment but needs must, I generally do most of my shopping online every year and I love it. I also have nine birthdays in Nov / Dec to buy for so its an expensive time. I do put money up throughout the year to help with it all.
Right I had better get some breakfast have good days all xx
MM sending love to you xx11 -
Quick visit as I'm just dashing off to the hairdresser. My hair, that has been driving me mad for days, looks perfect this morning. Why does it do that? Or is it just me?
Anyway, have a good day everyone.
