Possibly not because the rate of hike seems to be increasing.
Can one still pay for 12 or 18 months service in advance, with BT, EE and PlusNet?

I pay up front annual line rental with Plusnet. As far as I'm aware its still available for new customers.
  • iv just contacted EE as im taking a new broadband contract out with them on 22nd sept and im now concerned about this price rise iv read about on MSE....i spoke to 2 EE people and they both said the price rises wernt true, where on earth did i get my info from, never heard a thing about any price rise whatsoever....etc, they both just totally hadnt a clue about this matter..i read the page to them and advised them to check it out...  i asked about new T&C's and how they would mean we couldnt leave penalty free when price rise happens..again they both said this wasnt true and could guarantee i could always leave penalty free !!!! so now im totally confused...why dont they know about this???

    EE says
    *Annual price increase
The monthly price shown, add-ons and all out of bundle charges will increase on or after 31st March every year by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in January that year, plus 3.9%. See ee.co.uk/increase for details

Same as BT web pages .

Penalty free no as you have agreed to the price increase upon taking out the contract .

  • i spoke to EE today at 1.30 and had a right ding dong with them over this..they insisted its not true...whats going on..
  • I would also like to mention that BT have sent me numerous 'opportunity to upgrade early for just £2 a month' emails over the past couple of months, with this new locked-in deal. On the face of it this might seem like a good deal as the package offers speeds up to over double my current speeds for just £2 per month extra. The operative words there though are 'up to' as my line is not capable of delivering faster speeds than I currently receive. So I could pay my £2 extra per month but my speeds and speed guarantee would not increase, it would be the exact same package for more money and I couldn't leave penalty free in March 2021...the end of my current contract.
  • I have recently joined BT. When I originally contacted them I wanted a contract that would include anytime calls. I explained when I contacted them as disabled person this is my only means for emergency contacts, friends, banks etc and mobile contact numbers. The contract for 700 minutes is not fit for my purpose they have sold me. I have only been with them since August 2020.  I am now stuck in a contract that doesn't meet my needs. I have been miss-guided.
  • Do I take it you use the phone more than 700 minutes a month, for many that is more than adequate. If so for an extra £5 or so you can take the anytime unlimited option which should surely meet your needs. You can change to that during contract with no issues.
To confuse matters I am on the 500 minutes option which they sold earlier in the year.... I use less than 100 minutes per month.
