Shared parental leave question

My partner and I have agreed to do shared leave when our baby arrives. We have already submitted the dates to our employers and I understand that this is binding but I’m in need on some advice on changing the dates slightly. Basically, I’m going to take maternity leave, end my maternity leave early and then my partner will take share parental leave. I now want to start my maternity leave a little earlier than planned (due to coronavirus and work circumstances) but my partner’s dates will remain the same. It doesn’t affect our entitlement as I have enough paid weeks left to share so as far as the shared parental leave side of things, it will remain unchanged so does this mean I can simply tell my employer I want to start maternity leave at an earlier date? I have got enough time to give them the 4 weeks notice they require

I believe so, as long as the statutory notice has been given I should imagine it will be ok pending their approval.

Not sure why you're asking when you have already confirmed you are able to them the required notice of 4 weeks to start your maternity leave (and you probably know you need to give 8 weeks to change your return to work date). Are you concerned that your employer isn't going to be thrilled?
